The 8 Degree Pedal Explained
The 8 Degree Pedal is the world's first flat floating pedal, built to move naturally with the rider and establishing a category that has never existed before. This multi-patented design brings controlled pedal float to flat pedals, allowing the foot, ankle, and knee to align naturally through every pedal stroke for a ride that feels balanced, intuitive, and genuinely effortless.
Your foot naturally rotates as you pedal. You can't stop it. When that movement is restricted by a fixed flat pedal, it does not disappear. Instead, the foot often tries to rotate or gradually crawl off the pedal during the pedal stroke. That constant shifting tears up shoe soles, forces riders to repeatedly reposition their feet, and introduces stress that can contribute to knee, ankle, and foot irritation while quietly robbing power transfer with every revolution.
Clipless pedals addressed this years ago with pivoting float, allowing the foot to rotate naturally while staying connected. Traditional flat pedals, however, have largely relied on aggressive pins, concave shapes, and platform grip to hold the foot in place, often forcing the rider to work against the natural biomechanics of pedaling. The 8 Degree Pedal takes a different approach entirely.
Pedal float has long been recognized in cycling for its role in improving comfort, supporting more efficient power transfer, and reducing stress on the joints. The 8 Degree Pedal brings those same biomechanical benefits to a flat pedal platform, giving the foot room to move naturally under load rather than locking it into a position it was never meant to hold.
At the center of the design is a patented self-centering, spring-loaded mechanism. The pedal moves with the rider and returns to center automatically, delivering controlled rotational float that maintains stability without allowing excessive movement. Riders get a connected, confident feel underfoot without the resistance or “stuck foot” sensation that makes traditional flat pedals work against the body rather than with it.
Durability was built into the design from the start, not added as an afterthought. The 8 Degree Pedal has been put through extensive real-world riding by experienced cyclists alongside rigorous laboratory testing under weighted load, including continuous operation at 60 RPM with 60 back-and-forth 8-degree cycles per minute across 2,020,000 total cycles. It meets and exceeds International Safety Standards (ISO 4210-8), making it a trusted choice for any rider, on any terrain.
8 Degree Pedal Benefits
The 8 Degree Pedal works with the rider's natural movement rather than against it. The self-centering float reduces rotational resistance, cuts down on foot repositioning, and addresses the discomfort that comes from forcing the foot into a fixed position it naturally wants to leave.
• More natural foot movement
• Reduced foot repositioning
• Less shoe sole wear from friction
• Reduced joint stress
• Improved power transfer
• Secure flat pedal feel
Riders across every discipline notice less time managing foot placement and more confidence underfoot. Smoother hip and knee rotation through corners, reduced shoe wear, and better biomechanical alignment all follow from simply letting the foot do what it naturally does.
The 8 Degree Pedal brings ergonomic design, proven float mechanics, and durable construction to every rider and every ride. Let the pedal move the way your body naturally moves.
Built on Proven Refinement
Every current production model carries refinements shaped by real-world testing and feedback from experienced riders, while staying true to the patented biomechanical platform at the core of the design. The 8 Degree Pedal is the next step in flat pedal design, built for riders at every level who want performance, stability, and natural motion working in their favor.
SPRINGS
Our springs are designed for maximum life in this configuration and show zero fatigue from the 1,036,800 cycle tests. The springs installed in the pedal from the factory are blue medium tension springs catered to most riders. We are also providing an extra set of light resistance springs for lighter or less aggressive riders and heavy resistance springs for heavier or more aggressive riders. These additional springs can be easily changed by the customer with a metric Allen wrench.
SLIDING PUCK
This puck is the key to our design; It is one of the hardest and lowest anti-friction co-efficient components available. It also has shown little to no wear in the 1,036,800 cycle test under load. The puck slides back and forth in between 2 thin but strong stainless plates at the top and bottom of the puck without lubrication on the surfaces as designed. The puck surfaces and stainless plate surfaces become polished from the sliding puck movement.
SPRING PLUNGERS
The internal mechanism works with 2 opposing spring- loaded plungers that slide in and out of opposing plunger bores while applying pressure against the curved lobes on a sliding puck. These spring-loaded plungers apply an increasing load resistance as the float increases from (0) degrees center-position to +/- (4) degrees in each direction which is key in the self-compensating float design. These plungers have shown little to no wear in 1,036,800 cycle tests. Minor lubrication is required.
SPHERICAL BEARING
Our custom-made, Teflon coated bearing has shown little to no wear in 1,036,800 cycle tests. Minor lubrication is recommended.
.010” STAINLESS PLATES
- These plates are the 2nd part in the key to our design. The 0.010” Stainless Steel slide plates are installed on each side of the puck, both top and bottom.
- Plates are used as the anti-friction surfaces for the slide motion of the puck. These surfaces become polished and smoother as time goes on. No lubrication is needed.
2 Sleeve Axle Bearings
Our pedal has been matched with the best, lowest friction plastic sleeve bearings designed with longevity in mind. These same bearings are found within the highest quality cycling pedals on the market. Lubrication is not required.
SEALS
Our pedal has 4 seals to help prevent dirt and moisture from entering the internal mechanism. 1 plate seal, 2 o-ring seals, and 1 shaft seal. These seals are extremely effective, however like any other pedal, depending on the riding conditions and time spent on the pedals, more frequent maintenance may be advised.

Product Comparison
In the comparison below of clip-in pedals and our 8-degree pedal design, our pedals stand out by eliminating the need for clip-in mechanisms to achieve pedal float. Unlike traditional pedals, our flat floating design provides 8 degrees of self-centering, self-compensating float, ensuring unmatched comfort and smooth, fluid pedal strokes.
